November 11th: Memoir ’44 and other Boardgames

Thursday was Veteran’s day, which we celebrated with a board games! Mark Jackson returned and demonstrated a great light wargame, Memoir ’44. He had three Lieutenant Generals on each side, with superior generals (who actually knew the game) setting each side’s strategy. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Elsewhere in the room, several people settled planets in deep space in Starfarers of Catan.

November 9th: Tactical Tuesday

Tactical Tuesday got off to a great start with three separate games filling the room.

Mark came down and demoed Warmachine. After showing it off to Bryce, he started teaching Jennifer how to crush her enemies!

In the depths of space, a Star Trek universe duel took place.

Meanwhile, Scott R and Bryce experimented with some fleet action for Firestorm Armada.

It was a light evening, with a great opportunity for quiet interaction and one-on-one teaching.

Week 3 gathered

I broke the last week of pictures into a post a day, all linked together below. Enjoy!

Tactical Tuesday was a hit, featuring an attack run on the death star.
Jennifer got to play some Wednesday afternoon D&D. D&D Encounters on Wednesday increased to 4 tables of fun.
Board Game Thursdays was huge– the Ticket to Ride board game league kicked off and lots of very cool games went on around the room, including demos of Castle Ravenloft, Wings of War, and Killer Bunnies.
Magic and Minis Fridays featured some of both, plus painting, Blood Bowl, and other fun events.
Spooky Saturday was a blast; we hunted (and were hunted by) Werewolves, delved a Space Hulk, recovered memories and had an altogether great pre-Halloween.
Sunday was Halloween, where we were treated to tasty home made sushi and played a special 1920s edition of A Penny for My Thoughts.

Week 3: Spooky Saturday

The King descends on Crazy Squirrel, as does a famous (though, at the moment earring-less) Steeler.

Meanwhile, we managed to corral a Viper Pilot and had her run the register.

That evening, pirates and vampires cheer as they move plastic heroes and zombies in Last Night on Earth.

After several fun games, we gathered on the retail side to identify the werewolves that savaged a small village.

Later, a few investigators struggled to recover the memories that had had been blasted out of them… sometime during the conflict between the giant mutant spiders and the… somewhat less helpful than advertised gray aliens.

Week 3: Minis and Magic on Friday

Week 3: Board Game Thursdays

Thursday we kicked off our Ticket to Ride League. Of course, other great games were also in evidence… for example, Stacy introduced several people to Citadels. The backstabbing quotient has gone way up…

Jennifer got a chance to learn Castle Ravenloft.

But the week’s star was Ticket to Ride. Kevin brought in Pam and a co-worker, bringing her into the world of great games.

Week 3: Tactical Tuesday

Tactical Tuesday was light, but featured a great looking attack run on the death star. It looked grim at one point, but the rebels somehow survived the ties, made their bombing run, and blew up a small moon sized weapon of devastation.

The room also featured a Warhammer Fantasy match up, with the skaven creeping about the battlefield.
